Lisheenaleen is published by Oisín Sedgwick, in Ireland. Using the site means accepting what is on this page. It is short, and it is meant to be read rather than clicked past.

What you can do with the work

The writing, photography, artwork and design here are ours unless a piece says otherwise, and they are protected by copyright. Quote us, link to us, and use a short extract in your own writing with a credit and a link back. That is fair and we are glad of it.

What is not fine is republishing a piece whole, lifting our photographs for your own site or product, or feeding the archive into a model or a dataset. Ask first and the answer is often yes.

A person we photograph is a separate case and always has been. Every usable frame of a subject is theirs to use as well as ours, without a watermark and without asking, including commercially. That is a promise to them, not a licence to anyone else.

What the writing is and is not

Pieces are reported and checked, and every one of them ends by saying what we confirmed, what we corrected, and what we could not stand up. Read that block: it is the honest measure of how much weight a piece will take.

Buying guides are information, not advice. Prices, makers and practices change after a piece is published, and a piece is a record of what was true when it was written. Nothing here is legal, financial, medical or professional advice, and we are not responsible for what you buy or do not buy.

If we get something wrong, tell us, and the editorial policy sets out what happens next. Corrections are shown on the piece rather than made quietly.

Links out

We link to makers, shops, mills and sources. We do not control those sites and are not answerable for them. There are no affiliate links on this site. If that ever changes it will be declared in the piece itself, not in a line at the bottom of a page.

Availability

The site is provided as it is. We do not promise it will always be up or always be error free, and we may change or remove anything on it. Nothing here limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Ireland, and the Irish courts have jurisdiction. If part of this page turns out to be unenforceable, the rest of it still stands.
